Do the work is a phrase our community loves.

And for good reason.

It's a call to action, an antidote to laziness.

But we have a serious problem if we don't know what the work is for us.

It can't simply be something we're passionate about. Passion burns bright, hot, and out.

It can't only be something practical and valuable. In isolation, those aren't enough for us to integrate with the full context of who we are and what we have to offer.

The work is something that emerges through action over time.

When we build skill, we can use those emergent properties to map a system to take more action, build more skill, and allow more opportunities to emerge.

Terminal leave is too late. Do the work that's right in front of you, and see what happens.
